MAC Creme Cup x Melliesh 01 [Strawberry Milk] [[REVIEW]]
And so I was going through my
endless supply of lipsticks and products yesterday when I spotted my MAC Creme Cup lipstick that Serene (the darling) CP-ed for me on her way back from Bangkok.
To my knowledge, MAC Creme Cup lipsticks have pretty much disappeared off the face of this earth – they have been out of stock for a while now at all the major MAC counters (read: Raffles City, Tangs, Ngee Ann City, Vivocity etc) in Singapore. Last I heard, it’s slated to be phased out pretty soon for reasons unbeknownst to mankind so I’ve been on the hunt for some dupes and it looks like I might have found something similar. Well, sort of.
MAC Creme Cup is one of those beautiful pinks that are oh-so-natural.
A hot-favourite among the POPTEEN models (well, at least, used to be) it’s fast being taken out by the other model brand products. It’s no surprise though, seeing how the price of MAC in Japan is utterly insane.
MAC lipsticks are known to be extremely drying to the lips but well, this lipstick is from their Cremesheen range and over petroleum jelly, it’s a pretty decent product.
It has little specks of glitter in it, but they are really tiny and the finish for this lippy is definitely the glossy type. -winks-
It’s definitely a soft pink and if you stare long enough, you might notice that it’s a little creamy as well. It adds just enough pink for that slight difference in colour to my lips.
You might not be able to notice the difference right off these images because they’re cropped but in the mirror, the sweet tinge of pink is unmistakable.
And now, for the part we’ve all been waiting for.
A side by side comparison of MAC’s Creme Cup and Melliesh 01 [Strawberry Milk]
I’ve been staring at it for some time now and I think that Melliesh’s Strawberry Milk is actually just that little bit darker than Creme Cup as a hand swatch.
I would say… Close but no cigar when it’s stared at on the hand BUT.
Suddenly, it looks a little more alike huh.
Now, it’s definitely NOT a dead-on dupe but hey, Creme Cup’s almost gone now.
I’ll keep working on it to see if there’s a true dupe out there for Creme Cup… In the meantime, hope and pray they don’t completely phase the lipstick out. <3
