Let me first start off this review by saying that I think BHG got it all wrong.

No really, I’m comparing the item in the package I bought with pictures of the actual product online and this is ridiculous because it’s so incredibly different from the one that I’m supposed to get?!

Today’s about… The wrong version of Jumily No.3 [ガーリーEYES].

I’m actually quite disappointed.

As we all know, Maichi released a range of six false lashes some time back and #3 caught my eye.

Now, I really don’t think it’s about false advertising but when I doubled back to BHG to check, all of the #3 lashes looked exactly like the one in my picture.

Visual comparison tells me these two are absolutely not the same thing, however, I will only review what I have used so today’s review will be based on this.

Each box comes with two pairs of lashes, not unlike the ones from Melliesh.

I have to say, the spine is transparent and thin. It’s soft enough but completely lost its shape upon removal from the tray (repeated it with the other pair in the box and it was just as bad).

I love the fact that the ends curl up quite a bit but this can make application tricky. Inaccurate application would show up like red flags.

In terms of length, they’re decently long without being over dramatic.

The fibres are soft and felt almost exactly like Melliesh 01 – ドール (Doll). 

I actually think they’re extraordinarily natural and they look almost like they’re growing out of my own lids because of the arrangement of the lashes – work safe, for sure.

✔ Volume: 4.5/10 [Not very much volume. They're great for everyday wear.]
✔ Length: 8/10 [Pretty darn long, frankly.]
✔ Ease of application: 3/10 [I had a tough time with this and had to reposition it multiple times, not for beginners]
✔ Comfort: 10/10 [Soft and comfy]
✔ Reusable? Not in my case, honestly. They’re too out of shape.
✔ Price: 24.90 SGD for two pairs but if you’re planning to purchase them from BHG, you might want to reconsider.

Verdict:
As lashes by Jumily, hell no. They look nothing like the ones in the advertisement and I wouldn’t recommend this if you were planning to collect them. Not purchased from BHG, at least.

If you’re looking for something to wear to work or school though? These might work just fine for you

So The Sample Store sent me trial versions of the Bio Essence Celebrity’s Choice Inch Loss products.

-pauses-

I’m happy with my weight and shape but I have some areas I’d like work done on, so I decided to give the stuff a shot. Needless to say, I didn’t quite work out for me.

I quote the package.

“Bio-Essence Celebrity’s Choice Inchloss Shower Scrub and Body Cream Extra Strength Trial Kit extra strength formula with 2X more firming ingredients with INCREASED heat sensation to firm skin and burn fats faster”.

Bio Essence touts this range as a quick and easy way to losing half an inch (that’s 1.27cm for you metric system kids) in seven days.

A quick rundown here, the product apparently contains:

1) Bio mineral amino acid essence (I don’t know which on ingredients list)
That is supposedly “rich in proteins, amino acids, enzymes and various vitamins to provide effective nourishment to skin cells and promote the firming process”.
I have no idea what bio mineral means here because my mind goes immediately to crustaceans thanks to bio lessons.

2) Capsicum (fourth on ingredients list)
That’s “a stimulating ingredient that helps refine body contours”.
To my knowledge, capsicum is ingested for indigestion and only applied topically to help with spasms, shingles and nerve damage in HIV and diabetic patients, so capsicum to “refine body contours” is a completely new concept to me.

3) Ginger (third on ingredients list)
To “promote the firming process to achieve a slimmer silhouette”
I can understand ginger as an oral supplement to slim down but to be applied… I’ve heard of it being used as a stimulant to promote circulation (Chanel) I’m not sure about it working well on slimming when applied on the skin though.

4) Ginseng (tenth on ingredients list)
“A well-known health tonic works to strengthen and revitalize the skin, and tighten body contours”
-throws hand up- Ginseng. I wouldn’t take it in soup and I don’t use it on my face personally.

5) Pineapple essence (ninth on ingredients list)
“Helps to promote skin elasticity and moisturizes skin”
I’m not sure about the English here but that aside,  pineapple essence. Now, you and I both know for a fact that pineapples contain what we put in meat tenderizers, bromelain… It’s also supposed to be good for exfoliating. I suppose they’re trying to apply the same concept but I’m not sure how it’s supposed to moisturize.

6) Caffeine (twenty-sixth on ingredients list)
“Is a natural thermogenic ingredient which speeds up the process to achieve a smooth and slender body”
I’ve seen studies on caffeine and weight loss but most of the studies were conducted with ingested caffeine.

Now, on to the product proper.

My sample squeeze tube came with 20g worth of product but really, I didn’t need more.

The product is white and has a rather thick consistency.

It smelt like cough syrup at first but it gradually faded to a gentle strawberry scent which was pleasant enough but now for my main point.

We’re supposed to massage the cream into our skin in circular motions for a few minutes but after about one to two minutes, this was what I got.

Pardon the unglam picture but I don’t know how else to show you how bad it was for me.

I proceeded to wash it off right away because I’m not about to leave something that irritates my skin on for too long.

I understand that some ladies online have said that the itching is normal because it’s “circulation being promoted” but come on, girls, really? Some have suggested wiping the area or even washing it off but I honestly do not see how a slimming product that’s supposed to work by heating skin to “burn fats faster” is supposed to work at all when it’s been washed/wiped off .

I’m not about to go out and purchase the retail version.

I firmly believe in the healthy diet, healthy lifestyle way (see your doctor/dietician for advice on this) but I understand that that may not work for everyone.

So while I’m not actively encouraging everyone and anyone in the world to go for surgery, I won’t judge if anyone does as a last resort because these methods are the only things that would work for some people (not all but there are people who are genetically programmed this way and others who have tried everything and it’s not our place to judge), there isn’t an easy way to everything and weight loss is just one of those things that we have to work/pay for one way or another.

And really, for the rest of us who aren’t bothered about our weight, hey, enjoy life, enjoy your time and have fun in everything you do cause really, my loves, stay healthy and most importantly, stay happy because that’s something that no product can ever give you. ♡

So I’ve been attending events all month but haven’t quite had the time to update this place in a while. -bowbowbow-

Let me first start off by saying that the location of the event couldn’t have been better.

Held on the second floor of Fika Swedish Cafe down Arab Street, the event was cosy and utterly delightful.

Jointly organized by The Sample Store, Japalang.com and Canon, the organizers kept it simple with the decor but was generous with the gift bags. And I do mean generous.

Yes, that’s a total of around ten items in every bag including their recently launched K-Palette 24H Real Lasting Eyebrow Liner that I will give a quick rundown of later in this post.

The even custom made marshmallows for attendees and flew two Japanese makeup artists down to Singapore to conduct our mini workshop! :3

Meet Mariko-san, who demonstrated the basics to a cute vs cool look on the model and suggested that girls who don’t want to use false bottom lashes use eyeliner to draw on lashes.

Jae’s Note:
I personally would advise caution when doing this, especially when your eyeliner belongs to the jet black family.

If your eyeliner’s intensity is similar to that of the K-Palette liners then it might work but if you, like me, use Dolly Wink, then it may border on looking completely unnatural so do work with a light hand and exercise discretion should you wish to try this method out.

Yes, the turnout was quite large that day. Hang in there cause I’ve got one more shot that shows what it’s like to be a model at a blogger’s event.

Now let me start raving about the food.

It’s not usually my practice to talk about anything other than beauty on this blog but there’s one dish I have to introduce to you so I might as well just show you everything we had.:

We started the meal off with a cream of mushroom soup that had notes of mutton that I (and a number of other bloggers) found difficult to bear.

The garlic bread with herbs that was served along side was really yummy but I wouldn’t recommend the soup if you don’t like the taste of mutton.

Rosemary Chicken with a side of parsely potatoes that I found brilliant. The chicken was tender and grilled to perfection. You know how some places cook their chicken so much that the fillet ends up tough as rubber? Nothing like that here, the skin was slightly crispy at the edges but the meat was juicy and together with their creamy black pepper sauce? Oh-so-yummy.

And finally, the must-try of Fika Cafe.

Their bread and butter pudding.

Warm, moist and not overpoweringly sweet, the dessert was generously dotted with raisins that provided a pleasant juicy burst of freshness with every bite.

Comfort food at it’s fineness, it was just the right size to provide a satisfying end to what was an already gorgeous meal.

I normally hate bread and butter pudding but topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, this is the last dessert I’d like to have before I go to heaven.

And yes, I did say I’d touch on this product briefly.

Now, the K-Palette Lasting 2 Way Eyebrow Liner is a very new concept to me, seeing that the only product I ever use on my brows is my KATE eyebrow mascara (that hasn’t been touched in a while).

It comes in two colours, Chocolate Brown (01) and Honey Brown (02), meant for tanner and fairer skin tones respectively, though I would suggest matching it more to your hair colour rather than your skin tone.

Each pen has two usable ends, namely, the liquid:

And powder end:

The liquid end is meant to outline your brow while the powder is supposed to help fill it in.

I don’t know about you, but I’m very careful with the powder end because of the way product collects on sponge applicator. It could lead to possible fallout during application so I usually tap it lightly at the back of my hand before using it.

I have to say though, that I personally find it a little difficult to control the amount that the applicator deposits on my brows. More practice is in order.

The product dispensed from the liquid side may look very light upon first application but go easy on it because it’ll darken later on. It’s really strange, I know.

The product is also meant to give brows a more 3D look, for what reason, I’m not too sure but the glitter particles that are deposited by the powder applicator are supposed to help do the job.

They aren’t all that large though, so no worries about looking like someone dumped a ton of glitter on your brows there but while the liquid stays put, the powder does have a tendency to rub off and become a lot lighter.

If you perspire a lot, it might be a good idea to use an eyebrow setter (brush on gel from Daiso) or just plain bring this pen out along with you and touch up during the day.

This, of course, is just a preliminary review of the product right before I run off to work (again) so there won’t be a rating just yet till I’ve had the chance to properly give it a go.

I use this for contouring and because I powder my nose from time to time when I’m out, I’ll bring this along to “re-contour” my nose after I’m  done with my loose powder! It’s so light so it’s great for bringing out.

e) Ecotools Blush Brush
It’s the only blush brush I’ve been using for a while because the head’s the perfect size for my cheeks!

f) Shu Uemura 10H Pony Brush
I usually use this for highlighting my cheeks with my Candy Doll Highlighter. I bring this out with me when I don’t have time to do my blush at home :3

g) MAC 224SE Brush
My nose highlighting brush! It’s from the SE range so it’s travel sized and fits perfectly into my pouches!

h) Dahoo Tweezers
My tweezers for my falsies! Hehe, yes, you saw this in my latest video tutorial as well – it’s angled so it’s great for getting to the inner corners of my eyes.

i) Melliesh Blush in 03
It’s an awesomely sweet pink blush. One of my all-time favourites because of how pigmented it is

j) Canmake Cheek & Cheek Blush 01
I travel with two blushes just in case I feel like using a different colour XD This is a mix of pink and orange and is just so versatile so it’s great for my purpose. XD

It was good at first, I’ll give it that, but after a while, my lips started to get excessively dry without it?! And I started to get little bumps around my lips too so I’m tossing it and going back to the one my dermatologist gave me. I love my doctor. ♡

o) Eyelash Fixer FX (CLEAR)
The best eyelash glue I’ve ever tried. It keeps my lashes on all day when applied correctly – never stinge on glue, my loves!

p) EYEMAZING Cosmeline Gloss in Milky Pink
One of my current fav glosses because of how great it feels on my lips. Granted, I have to reapply frequently (because I drink a lot of water through the day) but it’s awesome so I don’t mind. XD I use this on dinner dates.

q) Canmake Color Stick in 01
To cover up any redness that may occur through the day! It’s so light, I bring this out with me even when I’ve got the smallest bag! It covers ALL redness (well, except for flakiness that is )

r) Melliesh Lip Gloss in 05
Another one of my favourite glosses. I use this when I know I won’t be doing much eating or drinking because of how beautiful the colour is.

I travel around with relatively little in my bag due to a pre-existing back injury from when I did cheer and ballet.

Because the weather has been so hot and my day extends to past midnight sometimes, I always bring loose powder along with me to take away the shine.

Blot, pat and we’re ready to go!

b: Makeup pouch
This is the pouch I travel most frequently with because of how soft it is. A gift from Cubby, it fits most of the items I usually tote around with me perfectly. I’ll have a separate post on that really soon!

c: Kapibarasan Mirror
This is my most precious mirror. XD I really like Kapibarasan and this mirror’s pink to boot. This is the only mirror I’ll take with me if I have absolutely no more space in my bag. The charm’s by Twin Star! Hehe, from the time I got super lucky. It’s my lucky mirror.

d: Camera
I use a Canon s95 and because it’s so compact and light, it’s great for me when I go for events too.

e: iPhone 3Gs
-laughing- Yes, my casing is matt black. My friends have made fun of me, saying I’m such a boy but hey, it’s really practical!

f: Hand fan

One of the newest additions to my list of  must-brings. This hand fan was a GWP from one of the latest issues of SCawaii! It’s fabulously thin, so it slides nicely in place.

I usually spritz some perfume on it before leaving the house so if I get caught in a space with too many perspiring people, this will save my nose.

g: Umbrella
My favourite umbrella from Daiso. Just two bucks for something so simply chic. You’ve got to love that! And with our very unpredictable weather of late, it’s the smartest thing to bring along!

h: Pen
I love gel pens because they look darker when put to paper.

i: Kutusitanyako pouch

This was a gift from Keita-chan last year! Kutusitanyanko is one of my favourite characters from San-x!

This pouch contains all of my loyalty cards and arcade cards.

  I’m visit arcades very regularly and am an avid fan of Jubeat and Guitarfreaks.
• d: Sunny Day Loyalty Card
  Sunny Day is a store at Bugis Village that has rows and rows of gashapon machines. I go there regularly to get my fix of reborn and san-x gashas~ The shop keeper is also extremely friendly and polite.
• e: Identification Card
  -laughing- Yes, pink!
•  f: POSB Card
  This is my bank card for cashless days!
• g: Kinokuniya Card
  The only loyalty card I actually use on a regular basis. It entitles card holders to 10% off books and magazines on normal days and up to 20% off during their members-only sales. Because I buy a lot of magazines, this card has saved me quite a tidy sum over the years.
• h: Watsons Card
  Possibly the most useless card of all, I’m not happy to say. It’s just for collecting points and eventually getting small sums off your purchases.It doesn’t give you any perks aside from entry into their members-only sales where they might have an extra 10% off… But other than that, you’ll have to spend quite a lot to chalk up enough points for store credits.
• i: John Little Card
  Only useful when they’re having their ’20% off storewide’ member sales. Their Stardust branches stock Melliesh so when they have sales, run to their stores cause it’s super worth it. ^^
•  j: ezlink card
  Here in Singapore, you have to either pay for transport by coins or ezlink card. Having the card is a lot more convenient and if I’m not wrong, a little cheaper as well. My only peeve would probably be the terribly ugly print on the front of the card. -laughing- my attempt to cover it up clearly failed XD

j: Wallet
Another gift from Cubby, it’s been with me for close to three years now!  :)

k: Kutusitanyanko Schedule Book
Although I can use my phone to note down dates, I’m terrible at actually checking them. Having a physical book that also looks so cute makes me want to look at it -laughing- so I’ll remember to check it. XD

l: Mirror
Got this recently as well! It’s a super large mirror that makes thing a lot easier for me when I put on full makeup! I’ve also got this in black to match my outfits :3

Nope, your eyes are not playing tricks on you. I’m posting about something not related to makeup today. Only because it’s completely fabulous. Believe me.

It’s all about Guardian’s Isopropyl Alcohol!

I love my MacBook. I really do. And I use it more than I use… Umm. Hmm. Let’s not go there.

So I recently realized that my beloved has become less than clean and using my eraser (my usual routine) isn’t helping to remove the stains on my keyboard.

Having recently (well, about two months ago) purchased isopropyl alcohol for removing my doll’s faceup (it’s made of resin) and for cleaning the nose bridge on my glasses, I figured it might work on my laptop too.

** My bottle’s from Guardian, a local pharmacy but you will probably be able to find this at any drugstore **

Okay, check out the area marked a. That is ONE drop of isopropyl alcohol on my keyboard, see the epic difference?

Notice also that the keys are almost yellowish? @_@ It’s because of the natural oils from my hands getting onto the keys and accumulating over time.

PS: I’m not proud of how grimy it looks.

You’ll need some cotton pads, Q-tips and/or some paper towels or tissues (whatever you choose, you’ll just have to make sure that you’re fine with it getting dirty).

Just a little bit is enough to clean quite a large area.

No, really.

It’s quite amazing and I’m actually quite ashamed to say that my laptop has been neglected for too long. I bought this mac back in 2009 and it’s been left as is for all this time.

The best part of it all is that you don’t have to use a lot of force. Gentle swipes in a circular motion will do.

And yes, to clean in between the keys, simply fold the cotton pad in half and slide it between the keys! If you want to reach between crevices, use a Q-tip

TIP: Avoid breathing in the fumes!!!!

Right now, it looks as good as new and I’m only too happy to keep up with this routine.

I’m also happy to report that this works on cables too.

This was my iPhone cable – I hadn’t cleaned it for years.

All it took was three minutes of my time.

And some effort (cleaning my cable was relatively more difficult as compared to cleaning my keyboard… I had to use more force), to get a good result.

I’m not even going to mark the area because the difference is so distinct, it’s impossible to miss.

I solemnly promise to never let my keyboard look anything like it did before yesterday, every again.

I was invited to their launch party some time last month and was very impressed by the amount of effort they put into the entire event. It was held at Marina Mandarin and the ambience of the event space was just fabulous.

The blog post is super late (I know, I know, I just wanted to make sure I’d really tried it out before telling you about it) so without further ado, I present to you, Murad’s Hybrids Skin Perfecting Primer (MATT).

Now Murad is a US based company that specializes in skin care and this is the first time that the company has come up with anything for the cosmetics world.

Murad’s Hybrids Skin Perfecting Primer (MATT) retails for 59 SGD and comes with 30ML worth of product, which roughly works out to be about 2SGD per ML.

It is made in the US and I am happy to report that the company does not test on animals. <3 +1 brownie point.

It comes in a pump bottle.

Which dispenses a generous amount of product at every time, so I would highly recommend going easy on how much you press down.

Directions:
Use after moisturizing, under or in place of foundation.

As you know, I have extremely sensitive skin that will react to pretty much anything and everything but I didn’t get a reaction to Murad’s new primer.

• The company claims the product features Adaptive Shade Technology to “create a perfect skin tone match” 

  
  While it matched my skin tone pretty well, I cannot guarantee that it would every other skin tone. For reference, I’m an NC30 and an RMK 102.
  

• The company claims the product features Pore Factor-5, aiming to minimize pores as it balances oil production.
  The pores on and around my nose were not concealed, but then again,my pores are actually quite large. 
• The company claims it can be used in place of foundation. 

  I liked the texture of the product because it was super light

  and a nice break from liquid foundation, however, it didn’t quite deliver in the coverage department. Quite honestly, I think nothing can be used in place of liquid foundation ^^||

  I also think it’ll be wise to blend the primer in very gently because it’ll cake when you get to the edges.Also, I found that it would drag when under my normal liquid foundation.
  
  

• The company claims the primer is good for disguising flaws while evening out skin texture and tone.
  While it worked moderately well for me in between, it didn’t quite work in the week leading up to my period (read: incredibly dry skin around cheek and nose area, with peeling and redness around nose crevices). It didn’t even out the redness around my nose nor cover up the darker spots on my chin either.
  
• The company claims the matt formula “creates a delicate powder finish that is shine-free”
  While it provided a decent base for loose powder, it did nothing for oil control. This is not to say, however, that it made my skin feel like an oil slick but it just didn’t make my face look matt, which, in our weather, is predictable.

So there you have it!

PS: After using it for about two weeks, no breakouts or reactions but I’ll be going back to my original RMK base and liquid foundation.
